 jego istotę  - kości skroniowej i żuchwy.

Staw skroniowo-żuchwowy składa się z :
o   Dołu żuchwowego kości skroniowej - położonego za guzkiem stawowym kości skroniowej , są one częścią podstawy czaszki
o   Wyrostka kłykciowego żuchwy
o   Torebki i więzadeł stawowych,
o   Mięśni żujących
o   Powierzchni stawowych zbudowanych z włóknistej chrząstki
o   Błony maziowej
o   Jam maziowych
o   Krążka stawowego włóknisto – chrzęstnego położonego między górną i dolną jamą stawową.
